4.18.11

I went to see my kids after work and this was going on at the neighbors across the street. I'm wondering if I should be concerned because the Beef Plant has been sighted for numerous water & air pollution violations. My son is almost two years old and when he was born his mom got a real bad infection in her lungs. She almost died and had to be in a coma because she was on a respirator. Now I'm no expert in pollution, but in my Valley their are Groups that raise alot of Cain with Organizations that have Large Cattle Feeds. The Plant processes the Beef, so all those combined Animal waste, parts and contaminates are located right at this site. In the picture with the two trucks in the middle of a dirt field, you can see the holding tank for the waste. This is called a Digestor and I imagine they knocked the house down because in between the House and the holding tank are going to be large ponds. Now like any ponds they will hold water. These ponds of water are going to be the byproduct of the waste from the Digestor or Vice versa. This is not relatively new technology for our area, but at some other site the digestor wasn't working correctly. When equipment doesn't work correctly, one of two things will most likely happen. First, the waste does not process as it should which means it just backs up. Second, the contaminates have to go somewhere and probably more then likely in the ponds. I'm guessing that won't smell to good and will be considered a nuisance. More importantly though the water table in this area is not far below the ground, so what happens if you get contaniments from the pond mixing with the natural water in the ground. I don't have to go into detail, but you can imagine it's not going to be very pleasant since all the homes in the area use well water.
